With his wiry frame, block-of-flats forehead, and wild, big bug eyes, he looks like one of the skeletons from his own closet. But it is, without doubt, one of the most entertaining, compulsive and exciting.ĭodgy, Company-corrupted FBI agent Alexander Mahone is like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Dirty Harry.

Sure, there are screeds of stock characters, a whole cell-block full of cliches, and more than a soupcon of silly moments, but, ultimately, you’ll be too busy trying to stop your adrenal gland from hijacking your heart to care. Oz this aint.īut you don’t – you can’t – go in to Prison Break‘s first season expecting gritty realism or strict adherence to the rules of logic or plausibility. And that’s even before we take into account the giant matchstick model of the Taj Mahal that Michael’s compelled to structurally reinforce by the prison’s wishy-washy warden. And he only has four weeks in which to accomplish this task. Michael then engineers his own arrest and imprisonment in said facility so that he can break his brother out before the poor lump gets his head fried off in the electric chair. Similar to his first jailbreak, Michael must probe Sona's weaknesses, forge alliances with enemies, and stay one step ahead of personal agendas and unforeseen circumstances that threaten his escape.Yes, the premise is absolutely batshit crazy: Genius structural engineer Michael Scofield spends hundred of hours and thousands of pounds tattooing himself with the disguised blueprints of a maximum security prison he himself helped design, and in which his brother, Lincoln – framed by a shadowy cabal called The Company for the murder of the vise President’s brother – just happens to be incarcerated on Death Row. Lincoln serves as the middleman between Michael and the operative while also relying on the help of Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), Michael's cellmate at Fox River, to facilitate the breakout. In order to save Sara and LJ, she tells Lincoln that Michael must locate fellow prisoner James Whistler (Chris Vance), who has information coveted by The Company, and break him out of Sona.
Outside Sona, Michael's brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) tries to get his sibling transferred to another prison, but his efforts are derailed when Michael's love interest Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Lincoln's son LJ (Marshall Allman) are kidnapped by a merciless operative who calls herself Susan B. Lechero immediately distrusts Michael for fear that his celebrity status as an escape artist may threaten his rule. At the top of the prison pecking order is murderous drug lord Lechero (Robert Wisdom), who tells the new inmates that disputes are resolved via the gift of a chicken foot, which signals an inmate's desire to fight another to the death. But Panamanian prison Sona is no Fox River-the inmates run the ruthless penitentiary on the inside while armed guards beyond the fence stand ready to shoot any would-be escapees. The third season finds Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) back in prison with disgraced FBI Agent Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner), ex-prison guard Brad Bellick (Wade Williams) and villainous Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell (Robert Knepper).
